<h2>About Matthias</h2>
<p>Matthias is our <a href="http://fellowship.fsfe.org/">Fellowship</a>
Coordinator and the Coordinator of the German team. He has been a <a
href="/freesoftware/basics/gnuproject.html">GNU</a>/Linux user since 1999.
Very soon he got interested in the political and social aspects of Free
Software, so he decided to study Politics and Management at the University
of Konstanz (pre-diploma) and the University of Potsdam (diploma). After
being <a href="/contribute/internship.html">FSFE's first intern</a> in
2004, he continued to work for us as a volunteer. In 2009 he finished his
diploma thesis on <em>IT coordination in the Superior Federal
Administration</em>, and started working full time for FSFE.</p>
<p>Amoungst <a href="/projects/work.html">other policy work</a>, Matthias is or
was in charge of our <a
href="/campaigns/valentine-2010/valentine-2010.html">"I love Free
Software"</a> campaign, the <a href="/projects/btw09/btw09.html">"Ask
your candidates"</a> campaign for the German Federal Election in 2009,
and the <a href="/campaigns/pdfreaders/pdfreaders.html">Free Software PDF
Readers</a> campaign. He is also a member of the <a
href="http://www.cio.bund.de/cln_164/DE/Standards/SAGA/saga_node.html">SAGA
expert group from the German Ministry of Interiour</a>.</p>
<p>Beside writing in his <a href="http://blogs.fsfe.org/mk">weblog "I love
it here"</a> he is responsible for <a href="/news/newsletter.html">FSFE's
monthly newsletter</a> since <a href="/news/nl/nl-201006.html">June
2010</a>, and writes about Free Software issues on the German blog <a
href="http://www.netzpolitik.org">Netzpolitik.org</a>. </p>
