<h3>Istruzioni sintetiche per i traduttori e regole generali</h3>
<p>Alcune regole generali per i traduttori sono disponibili su <a href="http://www.fsfeurope.org/contribute/translators.html">questa pagina</a>;
per quanto riguarda in particolare la traduzione delle pagine web, queste poche
regole dovrebbero tenervi al riparo dai problemi, evitare frustrazioni e
facilitarvi il lavoro.</p>

<li><b>Non modificate mai direttamente i file HTML, modificate invece
i sorgenti XHTML!</b><br/><br/></li>
<li>I nomi delle pagine seguono la sintassi:
"&lt;nome&gt;.&lt;lingua&gt;.xhtml" dove &lt;lingua&gt; è il codice di
due lettere della nazione di riferimento. Se non c'è alcun codice di
nazionalità, si assume che la pagina sia in inglese. <br/>(<em>Esempio: il sistema di generazione assume che test.it.xhtml sia
la traduzione italiana della pagina francese
test.fr.xhtml.</em>)<br/><br/></li>
<li>Se volete creare la traduzione italiana della pagina francese
x.fr.xhtml, tutto quello che dovete fare è copiarla in x.it.xhtml,
tradurla e fare il commit. Al prossimo ciclo di ricostruzione delle
pagine, verrà riconosciuta come traduzione e aggiunta in modo ordinato
alla struttura di navigazione del sito.<br/><br/></li>
<li><b>Se fate il commit di una pagina che contiene codice XHTML
scorretto, il processo di generazione delle pagine si interromperà
finché qualcuno non correggerà l'errore. Quindi non fate mai il commit
al CVS senza prima aver controllato la validità della sintassi XHTML
del file!</b> L'archivio CVS contiene uno script "validate.pl" nella directory
"tools", che serve proprio a questo scopo (richiede il modulo perl "XML::LibXML",
contenuto ad esempio nel pacchetto Debian "libxml-libxml-perl").<br/>
In alternativa è possibile usare un altro strumento di validazione xml, come
xmllint (pacchetto Debian "libxml2-utils").<br/>

<li>Link interni: se in una pagina c'è un link a un'altra pagina x.html del sito
FSFE, <b>non aggiungete il codice della nazionalità</b>, verrà aggiunto
automaticamente dallo script di generazione!

<li>Link esterni: se in una pagina c'è un link a una pagina esterna di cui
esiste una traduzione italiana, è preferibile linkare la versione tradotta della
pagina esterna, indicando tra parentesi la pagina in lingua originale.

<li>Alcuni dei file per i menu generati automaticamente sono in
formato XML invece che XHTML. Ciò che abbiamo detto per le pagine XHTML
si applica anche a quelle XML. <br/><br/></li>
