It would be nice for new visitors to see how the results may look like and which projects take part in the API.

Ideally, we could present the last ~10 projects which have been checked, and which are REUSE compliant. Or the last ~10 newly registered projects.

Would that be possible, or would it cause too much load on the database?

I don't think this would create any significant load on the database. At least not with some smart indexes.
