The currently installed font supports ASCII characters, Umlauts as used in German, Greek letters, and some more. However, it lacks support for Asian alphabets, e.g., Hiragana.
During yesterdays #ilovefs campaing, I saw at least one posted SharePic where the author manually added text.

I just dug a bit into this, and it seems like it's not that easy with the currently used URW font. However, I started liking the Noto fonts. On the downside, there seems to be multiple different font files and I have not found a straight forward way to let ImageMagick pick the "correct" one for me. Seems like one has to check if the desired rune exists within a font.
