  7. <h1>Fellowship Grant</h1>
  8. <div id="introduction">
  9. <p>The Fellowship grant is a way for people involved in
  10. Free Software activism to become Fellows, even if they
  11. cannot afford the Fellowship contribution.</p>
  12. <p>Despite financial constraints many people in the Free
  13. Software community devote a great deal of their time to
  14. Free Software activities. For example programming,
  15. translating, administrating, organising events, giving
  16. talks or advocating Free Software principles at public
  17. events. FSFE has now found a way to recognise their
  18. efforts and let them become part of the Fellowship.</p>
  19. <p>The grants will be awarded upon evaluation of
  20. individual candidacies and will provide a one-year
  21. Fellowship subscription.</p>
  22. </div>
  23. <h2>Duration of the project</h2>
  24. <p>The Fellowship grant project will last one year, starting
  25. from November 2009.</p>
  26. <p>Each month, FSFE will select three candidates and announce the decisions
  27. at the beginning of the following month.</p>
  28. <p>In December 2009, the first three grants will be given to people who
  29. applied in November.</p>
  30. <p>The last month in which it is possible to submit applications is October
  31. 2010.</p>
  32. <h2>Who can apply</h2>
  33. <p>Anyone who</p>
  34. <ul>
  35. <li>Shares the Fellowship and Free Software principles</li>
  36. <li>Is active in the diffusion, development and improvement of Free Software</li>
  37. <li>Cannot afford the Fellowship contribution</li>
  38. </ul>
  39. <p>is welcome to apply for the grant.</p>
  40. <h2>How to apply for a Fellowship grant</h2>
  41. <p>To apply for the grant is very easy:</p>
  42. <p>Write an e-mail to <a href="mailto:fellowship@fsfeurope.org">fellowship (at) fsfeurope (dot) org</a>,
  43. where you introduce yourself, explain the reasons why you would like to join the Fellowship, and
  44. what you have been doing in the past to support Free Software.</p>
  45. <h2>Who made it possible</h2>
  46. <p>The Fellowship grant has only been possible thanks to
  47. <a href="http://www.fsfe.org/donate/thankgnus-2009.en.html">FSFE's supporters</a>
  48. In particular, a generous donation from tarent GmbH, finally enabled FSFE to
  49. offer the Fellowship grant.</p>
  50. <p>Elmar Geese, CEO at tarent GmbH says: <blockquote><p>"We grew closer to
  51. the Fellowship of FSFE since some of our employees are already Fellows. We
  52. know that being a Fellow is a great way to become involved with FSFE and
  53. make a real difference for Free Software. We are glad that our contribution
  54. will allow other enthusiastic people to become part of the
  55. Fellowship."</p></blockquote></p>
