  8. <h2>I ♥ Free Software</h2>
  9. <p newsteaser="yes">
  10. Come February 14 and our website will be turning pink and heart-laden to
  11. celebrate the creators of Free Software. We have taken the opportunity
  12. on every Valentine's Day since 2010 to celebrate not only our loved ones,
  13. but also the dedicated people working very hard to ensure that we have
  14. the option to use Free Software.
  15. </p>
  16. <p>
  17. You can read more about
  18. <a href="/news/2014/news-20140221-01.html">how we celebrated</a> the
  19. I ♥ Free Software Day in 2014 to get a feel for the spirit of the
  20. occasion, and you are very welcome to join our celebrations this year!

  22. <h2>Fellowship elections</h2>
  23. <p>
  24. The <a href="https://wiki.fsfe.org/FellowshipElection_2015">Fellowship elections</a>
  25. are almost here! Three candidates
  26. (<a href="https://wiki.fsfe.org/Fellows/nidi/Election2015">Nicolas Dietrich</a>,
  27. <a href="http://blog.mehl.mx/2015/fellowship-elections/">Max Mehl</a>,
  28. and <a href="https://blogs.fsfe.org/flx/2015/01/26/my-candidacy-in-fsfes-fellowship-election-2015/">Felix Stegerman</a>)
  29. are vying for the seat currently held by
  30. <a href="/about/ojasild/ojasild.html">Repentinus</a>. Repentinus wishes
  31. them all very well in trying to replace him, and hopes that so shall
  32. you, our dear readers. May the best candidate win!
  33. </p>
  34. <p>
  35. Voting will take place from February 20 to March 6, and all orderly
  36. Fellows whose membership is active on February 19, 2015, 12am (UTC+1)
  37. are allowed to vote. So there is still plenty of time to
  38. <a href="/fellowship/ams/join.php?ams=join">renew your Fellowship</a>
  39. and to become able to make a difference.
  40. </p>
  41. <h2>Transitions</h2>
  42. <p>
  43. Whoever becomes the new Fellowship Representative will be joining a
  44. <a href="/about/team.html">Core Team</a> very different to that joined
  45. by Repentinus almost two years ago.
  46. </p>
  47. <p>
  48. First, we expect to take on
  49. <a href="/about/oberg/oberg.html">Jonas Öberg</a> as Executive
  50. Director around the same time the new Fellowship Representative will
  51. be joining the Core Team and the General Assembly. Furthermore, later
  52. in the year when the General Assembly will be holding its annual meeting,
  53. we will be electing a new President. It is expected that the GA will
  54. confirm our current Vice President
  55. <a href="/about/kirschner/kirschner.html">Matthias Kirschner</a> as the
  56. new President. These changes have been internally known for quite some
  57. time, but were
  58. <a href="http://blogs.fsfe.org/gerloff/2015/01/26/new-horizons/">publicly announced</a>
  59. by our President <a href="/about/gerloff/gerloff.html">Karsten Gerloff</a>
  60. only on January 26.
  61. </p>
  62. <h2>Something completely different</h2>

  65. Our staffers, volunteers, and Fellows are often present at various Free

  77. about the inadequate coverage topics like interoperability and
  78. platform choice have received in the past from consumer magazines.
  79. He notes how the advent of multiple mobile ecosystems is forcing
  80. consumer magazines to acknowledge the problem, and invites a major
  81. consumer magazine to join the push for interoperable Free
  82. Software.

  112. <p>
  113. For February we would like all of you to join us in celebrating developers
  114. of Free Software. Come 14th, please send developers, translators, and
  115. artists e-mail, postcards, and cake, hug them (with permission, of
  116. course), or use any other polite and creative option to let them know
  117. just how much you appreciate them and the work they have put into Free
