  10. We are working to build freedom in digital society. We operate in a lively
  11. environment with volunteers from many countries. We are looking for
  12. students who can join our team in Berlin for three months as a mandatory
  13. part of their studies or before graduation.</p>

  24. What you'll do:

  27. Contribute to <a href="/work.html">FSFE's ongoing projects</a>, working with one or more of our staff and volunteers.

  30. Communicate with contacts from the FSFE community, NGO, industry, and public administrations.

  33. Coordinate volunteers and others in the work on various projects.

  47. <h2>Basic details</h2>
  48. <p>
  49. <strong>Location:</strong> Berlin, Germany. Please note the FSFE has no ability to help
  50. with accommodation or travel, you will need to cover this yourself and
  51. arrange this prior to your internship.</p>
  52. <p><strong>Duration:</strong> 3 months full time at 35 hours per week, starting as agreed. If the internship is a mandatory part of your education, the internship duration can be longer.</p>
  53. <p><strong>Compensation:</strong> This internship is salaried with a basic salary of €450 per month.</p>
  54. <h2>Qualifications</h2>
  55. <p>
  56. You should have some experience or a considerable interest in Free Software.
  57. Your field of study doesn't matter, but you should be able to relate it to
  58. our work. Traditionally, a lot of interns in the FSFE have a legal or
  59. political science background, but we've also had interns working with us
  60. with a more technical or other social science background.
  61. </p>
  62. <h2>Formal requirements</h2>
  63. <p>
  64. You must be fluent in English and will be required to show that you
  65. can legally work in Germany; either by being an EU citizen, or
  66. by having a residence and work permit for the duration. The FSFE
  67. can not help you in getting either of these documents, but we will
  68. accept them if you have them.

  71. The internship must be a formal part of your education, or, if you
  72. do the internship on a voluntary basis, you must do the internship
  73. before you graduate and in direct connection with your studies.
  74. </p>
  75. <p>
  76. You must also have a German tax number which you get by registering
  77. with the residents registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt) in Germany.
  78. This should ideally be done before starting the internship, or at
  79. latest on the first days of your internship.

  81. <h2>Application deadline</h2>
  82. <p>
  83. There is no fixed application deadline for these positions. We accept
  84. interns regularly throughout the year, but to facilitate with our planning
  85. and to increase the chances of us being able to accommodate you for an
  86. internship, you should ideally send your application at least six months
  87. before your intended starting date.
