  8. <h1>#ILOVEFS campaign 2013 - thank you for celebrating #ilovefs</h1>
  9. <p newsteaser="yes">Every year on February 14th people celebrate love,
  10. relationship with others.. and for the third year running, the wonders of Free
  11. Software. All around the world people expressed their love during the "I love
  12. Free software" day<a href="/campaigns/ilovefs/2012/ilovefs.en.html"></a>. We
  13. would like to thank you for participating, and share some lovely quotes, dents,
  14. tweets, blog entries and articles that were done because of your dedication to
  15. <a href="/about/basics/freesoftware.html">Free Software</a>. When developers
  16. will read your declarations, they will definitely find extra energy to carry on
  17. their good work.</p>
  18. <h3>Quotes and blog entries</h3>
  19. <p>Gergely Nagy wrote a nice <a
  20. href="http://asylum.madhouse-project.org/blog/2013/02/14/i-love-free-software/">entry
  21. about his love for Free Software</a>: </p>
  22. <blockquote>
  23. <p>"[...] Whenever I'm feeling down, I take a piece of code, and make it
  24. better, then share it with the rest of the world. Knowing that I helped make
  25. the world turn, that I contributed to a good cause, a cause that helped me
  26. through difficult times - that makes me say that I do love Free Software. And
  27. so should you, because knowledge is our greatest asset, and free software helps
  28. keeping and improving our knowledge. Cherish it, improve it, love it." </p>
  29. </blockquote>
  30. <p>According to Mirko Boehm, <a
  31. href="http://creative-destruction.me/2013/02/14/i-%E2%99%A5-free-software-and-why/">Free
  32. Software makes the world a better place</a>: </p>
  33. <blockquote>
  34. <p>"The benefits of Free Software go beyond the individual contributors and
  35. the communities they form. The four freedoms laid out as the foundations of
  36. Free Software are a fanfare to the ability to exercise one’s free will, to
  37. freely collaborate by helping your neighbors, to achieve independence from
  38. directions other people have thought up for us. The effects can be seen all
  39. around us – when teaching material for schools is developed collaboratively and
  40. freely shared, when government data is opened up to improve the transparency of
  41. the political process, when the technical foundations of the internet and the
  42. operating systems running modern technology become a common good, and in many
  43. other places. People start to expect similar freedoms they learned to get used
  44. to in software when engaging in society. And more participation is always
  45. better." </p>

  59. <li>ShutterTux - Photography, Linux and Life!:<br/> <a href="http://shuttertux.wordpress.com/2013/02/14/happy-free-software-day/">Love in its purest form, 'unconditional' is the best. In our fast food society, seldom there is place for the unconditional love. If we exclude the love of mom for her child, then most other relations of love don’t hold strong to the bond of unconditional love. However, I feel privileged at the unconditional love showered by the people(developers, maintainers, users etc) of the "Free Software Foundation".</a></li>
