<h1>FSFE calls for nominations for the Document Freedom Award</h1>

<p>This year for the fourth time, the <a href="/index.html">Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE)</a> will assign the <strong>Document Freedom Award</strong> on the 28th of March 2012. With the Document Freedom Award, the FSFE and the <a href="http://www.ffii.de">FFII</a> like to honor institutes or enterprises that made an outstanding contribution for the spread and the use of Open Standards. The Document Freedom Award is granted each year during the Document Freedom Day, the international day to celebrate the importance of Open Standards</p>

<p>Previous prize winners of the Document Freedom Award have been in <a
|
|
href="https://lists.fsfe.org/pipermail/press-release-de/2008q1/000124.html">2008
|
|
the Auswärtige Amt (German Federal Foreign Office)</a> for its former reorganization and the use of the Open Document Format (ODF), in <a
|
|
href="/news/2010/news-20100324-01.html">2010 the Deutschlandradio for
|
|
offering Ogg-Vorbis-Streams</a> and in <a
|
|
href="/news/2011/news-20110330-01.html">2011 the Tagesschau webpage for offering its videos in the OGG Theora Format</a>.</p>

|
|
<p>This year the FSFE offers the possibility to everyone to nominate his or her candidate for the Document Freedom Award. If you know an institution or an enterprise that stands out for his use and implementation of Open Standards, please send an email - including your reasons - at the latest by the <strong>1st of February</strong> to <em><a href="mailto:germany@lists.fsfe.org">germany@lists.fsfe.org</a></em>.</p>
