8.
172 public institutions removed non-free advertisement

9.
Only one month after the letters for the PDFreaders campaign of FSFE
10. were sent, 172 public institutions have removed advertisements for proprietary
11. PDF readers from their websites. Particularly outstanding were the responses
12. from Croatia, Russia and Slovenia. In Croatia almost all reported institutions deleted the advertisement. Half of those contacted in Russia and Slovenia fulfilled FSFE's
13. request.

14.
"Several institutions replied stating that they agree with <a
15. href="/activities/pdfreaders/letter.html">our concerns, and that they will
16. modify their websites", said campaign manager Matthias Kirschner. Amongst those
17. are a number of ministries, parliaments, law enforcement agencies, and the
18. Belgian Prime Minister's chancellery.

19.
Campaigns like this are made possible by a <a
20. href="/contribute/index.en.html">community of
21. volunteers, and <a
22. href="/donate/donate.en.html">financial supporters.
23. FSFE is following-up with the
24. remaining organisations in order to get the remaining advertisements
25. removed.
