  7. <h1>Election period for the second Fellowship seat in the GA in February</h1>
  8. <p newsteaser="yes">During the whole of February 2010, FSFE's Fellows will be
  9. able to elect their second representative in FSFE's General Assembly. The
  10. winner of the election will help FSFE's strategic decision making body plan the
  11. future of the organisation, and will join <a
  12. href="http://blogs.fsfe.org/torsten.grote/">Torsten Grote</a> who occupies
  13. the first Fellowship seat <a href="/news/2009/news-20090601-01.html">since
  14. earlier last year</a>. Both Fellowship representatives are full <a
  15. href="/about/team.html">members of the General Assembly</a> for a term of
  16. two years, and have all the rights and obligations of other members.</p>
  17. <ul>
  18. <li><em>Who can vote?</em> All registered Fellows can vote.</li>
  19. <li><em>Who can be elected?</em> To become a candidate, you need to have been
  20. an active Fellow for at least a year before the election. This helps to make
  21. sure that the people elected into the GA are familiar with <a
  22. href="/about/about.html">FSFE</a> and <a href="/work.html">its
  23. work</a>.</li>
  24. <li><em>Election Platform</em> All candidates will use the <a
  25. href="http://wiki.fsfe.org">wiki</a> and/or their <a
  26. href="http://planet.fsfe.org">blogs</a> as a promotion platform, so that
  27. all Fellows can learn more about them.</li>
  28. <li><em>Voting System</em> For the voting process we will use the Schulze
  29. method, a popular voting system used by Debian, Wikimedia and others. It is a
  30. well tested method and has proven to be resistant to voting anomalies.</li>
  31. </ul>
  32. <p>All candidates who registered by the January 25th deadline are listed <a
  33. href="https://wiki.fsfe.org/election10">on the 2010 election website</a>. <a
  34. href="http://fellowship.fsfe.org">Fellows</a> will receive an e-mail to their
  35. [login]@fsfe.org e-mail alias. There the voting URL and all other necessary
  36. information is included. If you have questions, please <a
