Questioning tagline under logo #1602

I had a talk with Markus Meier, who does a lot of design work for us. He complemented how we improved the website. But he was not happy with how we display the "empowering people to control technology" under the FSFE logo. He perceives it more as a disturbing factor. The text is not really justified with the "f" from our logo (just the lower line of it) and the text in general is too long so that the stars in the logo hang around on their own.

I think the decision when we introduced it was mainly because we did not find another good way to make the tagline more prominent. With the new front page, I have the feeling we would not need it anymore.

As the wiki and the planet do not yet use the tagline under the logo, and from what I see it is mainly my.fsfe.org which would be effected, I would be in favour of removing the tagline from fsfe.org + my.fsfe.org.

I personally don't feel strong about the problems raised, e.g. alignment or disturbance. Actually, I quite like that our mission is so present on every single page.

However, I also would not block its removal. Design-wise it may make more sense to remove it to make space in the mobile view, and remove some on-top complexity.

I am fine with removing it. I kind of miss the "freedom" in the tagline anway and I also raised the point during our last web-a-thon that on the front-page it repeats with the first sentence / headline.

Also I see the point from @max.mehl that it makes design on mobile view easier.

If we remove it, let's also clean up all the CSS classes and HTML hacks around it.
