the link from the German press page https://fsfe.org/press/press.de.html to our mission links to https://fsfe.org/about/mission which leads to the english version
The English mission statement has no link to the Free Software section in the word "Free Software".
The German Version https://fsfe.org/about/mission.de.html has a link to free software but that leads again to the English version.
The latter link will show the German page if the browser has this as its primary language. But yes, in generally you should use
https://fsfe.org/about/mission.html.True, that's a bug. @egnun if you're working on that, could you please compare the different language versions and check how the situation is there? If you change the EN version but not its translations, please make sure to increase the
<version>counter.Wouldn't it be possible to set a preference either client- or server-side?
I am working on that and I made all the changes (except for in the bulgarian version, where I can only sense, what all these symbols might mean), but currently I have a problem with git.
So I won't be able to push them right now.
Client-side preference is set via browsers. But this is overridden if one browses a specific language version (e.g.
file.es.xhtml) – all links on this page, if correctly set, will lead to the ES version then.See how this page's section looks. In the DE version, it links to the DE Democracy page, in the HR version the respective translation (no matter if it exists or not).
The server does not make any preference, it just takes care that at least one text appears, so if no translation, the English one.
Closing this issue since it seems to be resolved.
Regarding the missing link in the EN version, it's the other way round: the DE translation is the only with a link.
Instead of filing this as a bug, I would advise to change the EN base version and its translations subsequently. Anyway, it's not really connected to this "fix links" issue but rather an editorial one.
