The last month of 2007 was pretty exciting, with the
|

biggest news being the release of interoperability information by Microsoft in
|
||||
connection with the European antitrust case. The SAMBA project has arranged
|
||||
full access to specifications necessary for communication competitive
|
||||
alternatives to Microsoft's proprietary products. Of course, this does not
|
||||
mean that Microsoft's monopolistic behaviour has been resolved. A new
|
||||
antitrust case may be undertaken after complaints by Opera Software that
|
||||
Microsoft has willfully distorted the web browser marketplace. It's
|
||||
also important to note that this does not in any way solve the problem
|
||||
with patents on software. Such patents are still being granted by the
|
||||
European Patent Office (EPO) in violation of current law, and the FSFE is
|
||||
encouraging the European Commission to take actions to permanently abolish
|
||||
patents on software, both in theory and practice.

Le dernier mois de 2007 fut passionnant, la plus grande nouvelle étant la

mise à disposition des informations d'interopérabilité par Microsoft, en
|
||||
rapport avec le procès d'abus de position dominante en Europe. Le projet
|
||||
SAMBA a obtenu un accès complet aux spécifications nécessaires à la
|
||||
conception de solutions alternatives et compétitives à même de
|
||||
communiquer avec les produits propriétaires de Microsoft. Bien entendu
|
||||
cela ne signifie absolument pas la fin du comportement monopolistique de
|
||||
Microsoft. Un nouveau procès pour abus de position dominante pourrait
|
||||
être engagé suite aux plaintes de Opera Software selon lesquelles
|
||||
Microsoft a obstinément dénaturé le marché des explorateurs web. Il est
|
||||
également important de noter que cela ne règle en aucune manière le
|
||||
problème des brevets logiciels. De tels brevets sont encore délivrés par
|
||||
l'Office européen des brevets (European Patent Office, EPO) en violation
|
||||
des lois actuelles et la FSFE encourage la Commission Européenne à
|
||||
entreprendre des actions afin d'abolir de façon permanente les brevets
|
||||
logiciels, tant en théorie qu'en pratique.

L'ultimo mese del 2007 è stato piuttosto emozionante, con la grande

notizia della rivelazione delle informazioni per l'interoperabilità, da
|
||||
partedi Microsoft, in riferimento al caso antitrust europeo. Il progetto
|
||||
SAMBA ha raggiunto il pieno accesso alle specifiche necessarie per i
|
||||
prodotti comunicativi concorrenziali e alternativi ai prodotti
|
||||
proprietari di Microsoft. Ovviamente, questo non significa che il
|
||||
problema del comportamento monopolistico di Microsoft sia stato risolto.
|
||||
Un nuovo caso antitrust potrebbe essere avviato in seguito alle lamentele
|
||||
di Opera Software sul fatto che Microsoft abbia volontariamente distorto
|
||||
il mercato dei browser web. È importante notare che questo non risolve
|
||||
in nessun modo il problema dei brevetti software. Tali brevetti vengono
|
||||
ancora concessi dall'Ufficio Brevetti Europeo (EPO) in violazione
|
||||
dell'attuale legge, e la FSFE sta incoraggiando la Commissione Europea ad
|
||||
intervenire per abolire per sempre i brevetti sul software, sia in teoria
|
||||
che in pratica.
