<p>Read in our October newsletter about FSF's thirty-fifth anniversary, our
upcoming participation at SFSCon, our technical job vacancy, and our
other diverse community activities.</p>
<h2 id="35-years-fsf">Congratulations to the FSF on its thirty-fifth anniversary</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.fsf.org/events/fsf35">35 years ago</a>, our sister
organisation, the <a href="https://fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</a>, was
founded to work for users' freedoms to use, study, share, and improve
software with the introductory line that <strong>"Our work will not be
finished until every computer user is able to do all of their digital tasks
in complete freedom"</strong>. That is a promise that holds true even after
thirty-five years of working for software freedom and inspiring countless
people and many organisations to take a stand for user freedoms. <a
href="/news/2020/news-20201009-01.html">The FSFE's President, Matthias
Kirschner, recorded a congratulatory speech</a> in which he reflected on the
importance the FSF and our movement have had and continue to have over the
years.</p>

<h2 id="participation-sfscon">Participation at SFSCon</h2>
<p>The South Tyrolean Conference for Free Software, SFScon, is one of the
established annual conferences on Free Software in Europe. In recent years we
have been represented with lectures, workshops and our information booth.
Last year we also organised our Community Event in the context of SFSCON, so that
we could meet our community and also many other interested people, and
eventually <a href="/news/2019/news-20191205-01.html">reported about our
work</a>. </p>
<p>Due to the current situation, the 2020 edition of this event can only take
place in blended mode: both online and at NOI Techpark, for a limited number
of people. But of course, the FSFE is again contributing to the
programme.</p>

<p>We have organised seven lectures in which legal issues are clarified and
current political developments are analysed. Concrete practical questions
concerning compliance, for example for SMEs, will be addressed, as well as
questions about machine learning and problems which arise in the development
of a "free" smartphone. <a href="/news/2020/news-20201019-01.html">Here you
find more information on our track and the SFSCon2020</a></p>
<hr/>
<p>The biggest financial impact the FSFE faces in these times of physical
distancing is the cancellation of Free Software conferences, including our
own events. To keep the software freedom movement solid and alive, please
consider <a href="https://my.fsfe.org/donate?referrer=nl">donating a part of
your conference budget to Free Software organisations, including the
FSFE</a>.</p>

<h2 id="job-vacancy">Technical job vacancy</h2>
<p><a href="/news/2020/news-20201005-01.html">The FSFE is looking for a
working student</a> to support our work to empower people to control
technology. The person will work 10 hours per week in the Berlin office
(home office possible at a later stage) and will support the FSFE's
technical infrastructure by working closely together with our system
administrators. Deadline to apply is Sunday, 15 November 2020. Please share
this with others you know who might be interested. </p>

<h2 id="what-have-we-done-inside-and-outside-the-fsfe">What have we done? Inside and outside the FSFE</h2>
<ul>
<li>For the <a href="/news/podcast/episode-7.html">seventh episode of
our Software Freedom Podcast</a> we talked with Vincent Lequertier
about transparency, fairness, and accessibility as crucial criteria for
artificial intelligence (AI) and why it is important for our society to
release AI software under a Free Software license. </li>
<li>In his <a href="https://sfk.flossk.org/">keynote at Software
Freedom Kosova 2020 </a> Alexander Sander, FSFE's EU Public Policy
Manager, provided a brief overview of the FSFE's previous and ongoing activities to foster software
freedom in Europe, on the levels of politics, legal work with
enterprises, and general public awareness. The keynote was followed by
a workshop two weeks later.</li>
<li>At the "openSUSE + LibreOffice Virtual Conference" (oSLO),
Alexander Sander <a
href="https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSLO/program/proposals/3247">gave
a talk</a> about the advantages of using Free Software in the public
sector, about what we have learnt from the corona crisis, and why it is
even more important to use Free Software now than ever before.</li>
<li> We are grateful to Lioh Möller who coordinated the FSFE country
team Switzerland and welcome the new coordinator Gian-Maria Daffré with
Ralf Hersel as vice-coordinator. The Swiss group is well known for
their Free Software education portal <a
href="https://lernenwiedieprofis.ch/">Lernen wie die Profis (learning
like a pro)</a> and the news-zine and podcast <a
href="https://gnulinux.ch/">gnulinux.ch</a>.</li>
<li> The Berlin coordinator Erik Grun together with Katja Jäger <a
href="https://campus.re-publica.com/en/session/freie-software-digitale-gesellschaft">gave
a talk</a> about Free Software for the digital society in education at
the re:publica campus in Berlin.</li>

<h2 id="participation-sfscon">Particicipación en el SFSCon</h2>
<p>Las Jornadas de Software
Libre del Sur del Tirol, SFScon, son una de las jornadas anuales establecidas sobre el Software Libre en Europa. En los últimos años hemos estado presentes con conferencias, talleres y nuestro stand de información. El año pasado también organizamos nuestro Acto Comunitario en el contexto del SFSCON, para poder conocer a nuestra comunidad y también a muchas otras personas interesadas, y finalmente <a href="/news/2019/news-20191205-01.html">informar sobre nuestro trabajo</a>. </p>
<p>Debido a las circunstancias actuales, la edición 2020 de este acto sólo puede tener lugar de forma mixta: tanto en línea como en el NOI Techpark, para un número limitado de personas. Pero, por supuesto, la FSFE está contribuyendo de nuevo al programa</p>

<p>Dans notre lettre d'information d'octobre, vous trouverez des informations sur le trente-cinquième anniversaire de la FSF, notre participation à venir à la SFSCon, une vacance pour un emploi technique et sur les autres diverses activités de notre communauté.</p>
<h2 id="35-years-fsf">Félicitations à la FSF pour son trente-cinquième anniversaire</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.fsf.org/events/fsf35">Il y a 35 ans</a>, notre organisation sœur, la <a href="https://fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</a>, a été fondée afin de s'engager pour la liberté <span style="font-size: 17.6px;">des utilisatrices et utilisateurs </span>d'utiliser, d'étudier, de partager et d'améliorer les logiciels. Avec en ligne d'introduction <strong>"Notre travail ne sera terminé que lorsque toutes les utilisatrices et tous les utilisateurs d'ordinateurs seront capables de réaliser leurs tâches digitales en complète liberté"</strong>. Ceci est une promesse qui tient toujours, même après trente-cinq années de travail pour la liberté du logiciel, ayant inspiré d'innombrables personnes et de nombreuses organisations à faire front pour la liberté des utilisatrices et utilisateurs. <a href="/news/2020/news-20201009-01.html">Le président de la FSFE Matthias Kirschner a enregistré un discours de félicitations</a> dans lequel il médite sur l'importance que la FSF et notre mouvement ont eu et continuent d'avoir au cours des années.</p>

<h2 id="participation-sfscon">Participation à la SFSCon</h2>
<p>La conférence Sud-Tyrolienne pour le Logiciel Libre, SFScon, est une des conférences sur le Logiciel Libre annuelle établies en Europe. Ces dernières années, nous y avons été représentés lors d'exposés, de sessions de travail et par notre stand d'information. L'année dernière, nous avons organisé notre Évènement Communautaire dans le contexte de la SFScon, afin de pouvoir y rencontrer notre communauté ainsi que de nombreux intéressés, puis nous avons finalement fait le <a href="/news/2019/news-20191205-01.html">bilan de notre travail</a>.</p>
<p>En raison de la situation actuelle, l'édition 2020 de cet évènement ne pourra se faire qu'en mode mixte : en ligne, et au NOI Techpark pour un nombre limité de personnes. Mais bien entendu, la FSFE contribuera encore au programme.</p>

Les questions pratiques concrètes concernant la conformité, par exemple pour les SMEs, y seront adressées, ainsi que les questions sur le machine learning et quels problèmes surviennent lors du développement d'un smartphone "libre". <a href="/news/2020/news-20201019-01.html">Vous trouverez plus d'informations sur notre piste et sur la SFScon2020</a></p>

<p>L'impact financier le plus important auquel la FSFE doit faire face en ces temps de distanciation physique est l'annulation de conférences sur le Logiciel Libre, incluant nos propres évènements. Pour conserver un mouvement pour la liberté du logiciel solide et vivant, merci d'envisager <a href="https://my.fsfe.org/donate?referrer=nl">de faire don d'une partie ou de l'intégralité de votre budget conférences aux organisations pour le Logiciel Libre, y compris la FSFE</a>.</p>

<h2 id="job-vacancy">Emploi technique vacant</h2>
<p><a href="/news/2020/news-20201005-01.html">La FSFE recherche un.e étudiant.e salarié.e</a> pour soutenir notre travail : habiliter tout le monde à maitriser la technologie. Cette personne travaillera 10 heures par semaine dans le bureau de Berlin (télétravail ultérieurement possible) et soutiendra l'infrastructure technique de la FSFE en travaillant en étroite collaboration avec nos administrateurs de système. <li>Dans son <a href="https://sfk.flossk.org/">discours au Software Freedom Kosova 2020 </a> Alexander Sander, directeur des politiques publiques Européennes de la FSFE, a fournie un bref aperçu des activités passées et actuelles de la FSFE pour favoriser la liberté logicielle en Europe, aux niveaux de la politique, du travail légal en entreprise et de conscience publique générale. Le discours a été suivi deux semaines plus tard par une session de travail.</li>
<li>À la "openSUSE + LibreOffice Virtual Conference" (oSLO), Alexander Sander <a href="https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSLO/program/proposals/3247">a donné une conférence</a> sur les avantages d'utiliser le Logiciel Libre dans le secteur public, sur les leçons apprises de la crise du corona et pourquoi il est encore plus important aujourd'hui que jamais auparavant d'employer du Logiciel Libre.</li>
<li>Nous sommes reconnaissants envers Lioh Möller qui a coordonné l'équipe nationale de la FSFE en Suisse et accueillons le nouveau coordinateur Gian-Maria Daffré accompagné de Ralf Hersel en tant que vice-coordinateur. Le groupe Suisse est bien connu pour son portail éducatif sur le Logiciel Libre <a href="https://lernenwiedieprofis.ch/">Lernen wie die Profis (apprendre comme les pros)</a> et le magazine d'actus et podcast <a href="https://gnulinux.ch/">gnulinux.ch</a>.</li>
<li> Le coordinateur de Berlin Erik Grun accompagné de Katja Jäger <a href="https://campus.re-publica.com/en/session/freie-software-digitale-gesellschaft">a donné une conférence</a> sur le Logiciel Libre pour la société numérique dans l'éducation au campus re:publica à Berlin.</li>

<p>Nella nostra newsletter di ottobre potrai leggere del trentacinquesimo anniversario della FSF, della nostra prossima partecipazione all'SFSCon, della disponibilità di un posto di lavoro tecnico all'FSFE, e di altre varie attività della nostra comunità.</p>
<h2 id="35-years-fsf">Congratulazione all'FSF per il suo 35º anniversario</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.fsf.org/events/fsf35">35 anni fa</a>, la nostra organizzazione associata, la <a href="https://fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</a>, venne fondata perché gli utenti
potessero liberamente usare, studiare, condividere e migliorare il
software con l'incipit: <strong>"Il nostro lavoro non sarà terminato finché ogni utilizzatore di computer non sarà in grado di compiere le proprie attività digitali in piena libertà"</strong>. Questa è una promessa che rimane vera anche dopo trentacinque anni di lavoro per la libertà del software nei quali sono state ispirate innumerevoli persone e molte organizzazioni a battersi per le libertà dell'utente. <a href="/news/2020/news-20201009-01.html">Il presidente della FSFE, Matthias

<h2 id="participation-sfscon">Partecipazione all'SFSCon</h2>
<p>La conferenza del Südtirol per il Software Libero, la SFScon, è una delle più accreditate conferenze annuali sul Software Libero in Europa. Negli ultimi anni siamo stati presenti con interventi, seminari e il nostro stand informativo. Lo scorso anno abbiamo anche organizzato il nostro evento della comunità nel contesto dell'SFSCON, così abbiamo potuto incontrare la nostra comunità e anche molte altre persone interessate, e alla fine <a href="/news/2019/news-20191205-01.html">abbiamo scritto un resoconto del nostro lavoro</a>. </p>
<p>Vista l'attuale situazione, l'edizione del 2020 di questo evento potrà tenersi solo
in modalità ibrida: sia online che al NOI Techpark per un numero
limitato di persone. In ogni caso, la FSFE contribuirà nuovamente al
programma.</p>

<p>Abbiamo organizzato sette interventi nei quali vengono chiarificate questioni legali e sono analizzati i recenti sviluppi in ambito politico. Verranno affrontate domande concrete e pratiche riguardanti la
conformità, ad esempio per le PMI, come anche domande a riguardo
dell'apprendimento automatico e quali problemi sorgono nello sviluppo di

<p>Il maggiore impatto finanziario che la FSFE sta affrontando in questi
tempi di distanza sociale è la cancellazione delle conferenze di
Software Libero, inclusi i propri eventi. Per mantenere solido e vivo il
movimento della libertà del software, puoi considerare di <a href="https://my.fsfe.org/donate?referrer=nl">donare parte di ciò che avresti speso per le conferenze alle organizzazioni del Software Libero, inclusa la FSFE</a>.</p>

<h2 id="job-vacancy">Posto di lavoro tecnico</h2>
<p><a href="/news/2020/news-20201005-01.html">La FSFE sta cercando uno studente lavoratore</a> per sostenere il proprio lavoro nell'aiutare la gente a controllare la tecnologia. La persona lavorerà 10 ore a settimana nell'ufficio di Berlino (più avanti sarà possibile il lavoro da casa) e supporterà la struttura tecnica della FSFE lavorando a fianco dei nostri amministratori di sistema. Il termine per la candidatura è domenica 15 novembre 2020. Condividi questa informazione con altre persone di tua conoscenza che potrebbero essere interessate. </p>

<p>Lees in onze oktober-nieuwsbrief over FSF's 35ste verjaardag, onze komende deelname aan SFSCon, onze technische vacature en onze diverse andere gemeenschapsactiviteiten.</p>
<h2 id="35-years-fsf">Felicitaties aan de FSF voor haar 35ste verjaardag</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.fsf.org/events/fsf35">35 jaren geleden</a> is onze zusterorganisatie, de <a href="https://fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</a>, opgericht om te werken voor de rechten van gebruikers om software te gebruiken, te bestuderen, te delen en te verbeteren. De introductiezin was dat <strong>"Ons werk zal niet zijn beëindigd tot iedere computergebruiker in staat is om alle digitale taken in complete vrijheid te verrichten"</strong>. Dat is een belofte die zelfs na 35 jaren werken voor softwarevrijheid en het inspireren van talloze mensen en vele organisaties om op te komen voor gebruikersvrijheden waar wordt gemaakt. <a href="/news/2020/news-20201009-01.html">FSFE's voorzitter Matthias Kirschner nam een felicitatieboodschap op</a> waarin hij het belang van de FSF en onze beweging onderstreepte en door de jaren heen heeft.</p>

<h2 id="participation-sfscon">Deelname aan SFSCon</h2>
<p>De Zuid-Tiroler Conferentie voor Vrije Software, SFScon, is een van de gevestigde jaarlijkse conferenties over Vrije Software in Europa. In recente jaren waren we vertegenwoordigd met lezingen, werkgroepen en onze informatiekraam. Vorig jaar organiseerden we ook ons Gemeenschapsevenement in de context van SFSCON zodat wij elkaar en vele andere interessante mensen konden ontmoeten. Uiteindelijk deden we <a href="/news/2019/news-20191205-01.html">verslag van ons werk.</a></p>
<p>Vanwege de huidige situatie kan de 2020-editie van dit evenement alleen plaatsvinden in een gemengde modus: zowel online als voor een beperkt aantal mensen op het NOI Techpark. Maar de FSFE draagt natuurlijk bij aan het programma.</p>

<p>We hebben zeven lezingen georganiseerd waarin juridische onderwerpen worden verduidelijkt en huidige politieke ontwikkelingen worden geanalyseerd. We zullen ingaan op concrete praktische vragen ten aanzien van naleving, bijvoorbeeld voor het MKB en op vragen over machineleren en problemen die ontstaat bij de ontwikkeling van een "vrije" smartphone. <a href="/news/2020/news-20201019-01.html">Hier vind u meer informatie over onze track en SFSCon2020</a></p>

<p>De grootste financiële impact waar de FSFE in deze tijd van fysieke afstand mee te maken heeft is het afzeggen van Vrije Softwareconferenties, inclusief onze eigen evenementen. Overweeg alstublieft om de softwarevrijheidsbeweging solide en levend te houden <a href="https://my.fsfe.org/donate?referrer=nl">door ene deel van uw conferentiebudget aan Vrije Software-organisaties, inclusief de FSFE, te doneren</a>.</p>

<h2 id="job-vacancy">Technische vacature</h2>
<p><a href="/news/2020/news-20201005-01.html">De FSFE zoekt een werkstudent</a> om ons werk om mensen in staat te stellen technologie te controleren te steunen. Deze persoon zal 10 uur per week op het kantoor in Berlijn werken (thuiskantoor in een later stadium) en FSFE's technische infrastructuur steunen door nauw samen te werken met onze systeembeheerders. De uiterste inzendtermijn is zondag 15 november 2020. Deel dit alstublieft met anderen die interesse zouden kunnen hebben.</p>

<h2 id="what-have-we-done-inside-and-outside-the-fsfe">Wat hebben we gedaan? Binnen en buiten de FSFE</h2>

<li>Voor de <a href="/news/podcast/episode-7.html">zevende aflevering van onze Software Freedom Podcast</a> hebben we met Vincent Lequertier gepraat over transparantie, eerlijkheid en toegankelijkheid als cruciale criteria voor kunstmatige intelligentie (KI) en waarom het voor onze samenleving belangrijk is om KI-software onder een Vrije Softwarelicentie te publiceren.</li>
<li>In zijn <a href="https://sfk.flossk.org/">cruciale lezing op Software
Freedom Kosova 2020 </a> gaf FSFE's EU Publiek Beleidsmanager Alexander Sander een beknopt overzicht van de afgelopen en lopende activiteiten van de FSFE om softwarevrijheid in Europa op de niveaus van politiek, juridisch werk met bedrijven en algemeen publiek bewustzijn te versterken. Op de cruciale lezing volgde twee weken later een werkgroep.</li>
