<p>
A Free Software Foundation Europe (FSF Europe) <20> uma ONG sem fins
lucrativos, actualmente reconhecida como caridade na Alemanha,
dedicada a todos os aspectos do Software Livre na Europa. Faz parte
de uma rede mundial de Funda<64><61>es para o Software Livre com a FSF
USA (FSF USA), fundada em 1985 por Richard M. Stallman,
sendo actualmente a sua mais proeminente organiza<7A><61>o-irm<72>.

Desde a sua funda<64><61>o em in<69>cios de 2001, a FSF Europe j<> desenvolveu a sua
precen<EFBFBD>a em 7 pa<70>ses Europeus [<a href="#1">1</a>] atrav<61>s de organiza<7A><61>es
associadas [<a href="#2">2</a>], cap<61>tulos locais e/ou membros destes
pa<EFBFBD>ses. Presen<65>as noutros pa<70>ses est<73>o actualmente em desenvolvimento.

A FSF Europe teve um papel chave na decis<69>o de come<6D>ar a mudar para
Software Livre com os servidores do parlamento Alem<65>o por modo a
reduzir a depend<6E>ncia em monop<6F>lios estrangeiros e tamb<6D>m esteve
envolvida nos coment<6E>rios do governo Franc<6E>s contra a adop<6F><70>o de
patentes de software.

Entre outras coisas, participa no 5<> Programa Quadro da Comiss<73>o
Europeia como parceiro do ``Projecto AGNULA'' (IST-2001-34879).
