<title>The Fellowship Smartcard</title>
</head> | |||
<body> | |||
<h1>The Fellowship Smartcard</h1>
<div id="introduction">
<div class="image"> | |||
<img src="/graphics/fsfe_card-plain.png" alt="Fellowship Samrtcard" />
</div> | |||
<p> | |||
When you <a href="http://www.fsfe.org/join">join the Fellowship</a>, you
will automatically receive two letters: One containing your
personalised Fellowship card, a smart card containing state-of-the-art
hardware encryption, and another one containing administrative
information for the Fellowship card.
</p> | |||
</div> | |||
<h2>Personalised for you</h2>
<p>The Fellowship smart card has a unique design that is personalised for you
with your name and fellowship number. There are three OpenPGP subkeys on the
smart card:</p> | |||
<ul> | |||
<li>A signature subkey, used to sign email, documents and other data.</li>
<li>An encryption subkey, used to decrypt incoming data and mail.</li>
<li>An authentication subkey, not used for normal GnuPG operation, which allows
other tools like SSH or PAM modules to use the Fellowship card for
authentication and (remote) logins.</li>
</ul> | |||
<h2>Features</h2> | |||
<p>The Fellowship card is a so-called "smart card" and requires a smart card
reader for your computer. Using your Fellowship card in combination with a
smart card reader, you can: </p>
<ul> | |||
<li>Sign and encrypt your email.</li>
<li>Use your Fellowship card for single sign-on at your computer.</li>
<li>Log in remotely on your machines using SSH. Because the key is stored
in hardware and can never leave the card, you can even do this safely from
a potentially insecure machine.</li>
<li>Use the Fellowship card only for subkeys of your normal GPG key, as
described in the <a | |||
href="http://www.gnupg.org/howtos/card-howto/en/smartcard-howto.html">GnuPG
Smartcard Howto</a> under <a
href="http://www.gnupg.org/howtos/card-howto/en/ch05.html">Advanced
Features</a> or the <a href="http://wiki.fsfe.org/Card_howtos">howtos in
our wiki</a>. Using your Fellowship card with subkeys is recommended.</li>
</ul> | |||
<h2>Use your imagination</h2>
<p>The Fellowship card is indeed a very flexible token that can be used for
many things -- use your imagination and blog about it.</p>

<title>Fellowship of Free Software Foundation Europe</title>
</head> | |||
<body> | |||
<h1>Fellowship</h1> | |||
<div id="introduction">
<div class="image"> | |||
<img src="/graphics/Join_Fellowship.png" alt="Fellowship Banner" />
</div> | |||
<p> | |||
<strong>The Fellowship</strong> is the primary way
people can identify with and support the <strong>Free
Software Foundation Europe</strong>. It provides
<strong>collaborative tools</strong> for supporters to
describe what they are doing and interact with each
other. The Fellowship is a society for people who want
to help the Free Software movement
<strong>grow</strong>.
</p> | |||
</div> | |||
<h2>Increase FSFE's financial independence!</h2>
<p> | |||
Supporting freedom can mean having to be straightforward at
times and that requires financial independence. With your yearly
contribution, you lay the foundations for incorruptible and
undeviating work. | |||
</p> | |||
<h2>Increase FSFE's political weight!</h2>
<p> | |||
Supporting freedom can mean having to stand up against powerful
opponents and that requires a strong voice. Your support adds
weight to FSFE's message and increases its impact on political
decision makers. | |||
</p> | |||
<h2>Increase FSFE's workforce!</h2>
<p> | |||
Supporting software freedoms all over Europe requires helpers
with vital local knowledge. As a Fellow, you can become FSFE's
eyes, ears and hands wherever you live.
</p> | |||
<h2>Local meetings</h2>
<p> | |||
<a href="https://wiki.fsfe.org/FellowshipGroup">Active Fellowship

awareness <a href="http://wiki.fsfe.org/FellowshipEvents">events</a>.
</p> | |||
<h2>As a Fellow, you get:</h2>
<ul> | |||
<li>An <em>@fsfe.org</em> mail forwarding alias, a visible sign
of your affiliation to Free Software Foundation Europe.</li>
<li>A personal login to the Fellowship website, which includes
a <a href="http://planet.fsfe.org">blogging platform</a> and
a <a href="http://wiki.fsfe.org">wiki</a>.</li>
<li>Access to our instant messaging system, where
you can meet other Fellows and exchange experiences.</li>
<li>A personalised <a href="/fellowship/card.html">OpenPGP
smart card</a>, putting you at the forefront of those who are
aware of privacy issues, security and digital
self-determination.</li>
</ul> | |||
<h2>Decide for yourself!</h2>
<p> | |||
As a Fellow, you decide how involved you want to get: from simple (and
much appreciated) financial support, over contributing to <a
href="/fellowship/communicate.html}">discussions online and at
Fellowship meetings</a>, to becoming an elected representative of the
Fellowship on FSFE's General Assembly - everything is possible.
</p> | |||
<h2>Join today!</h2> | |||
<p> | |||
You can <a href="https://fellowship.fsfe.org/join">join the Fellowship

<title>Fellowship Grant</title>
</head> | |||
<body> | |||
<h1>Fellowship Grant</h1>
<div id="introduction">
<p>The Fellowship grant is a way for people involved in
Free Software activism to become Fellows, even if they
cannot afford the Fellowship contribution.</p>
<p>Despite financial constraints many people in the Free
Software community devote a great deal of their time to
Free Software activities. For example programming,
translating, administrating, organising events, giving
talks or advocating Free Software principles at public
events. FSFE has now found a way to recognise their
efforts and let them become part of the Fellowship.</p>
<p>The grants will be awarded upon evaluation of
individual candidacies and will provide a one-year
Fellowship subscription.</p>
</div> | |||
<h2>Duration of the project</h2>
<p>The Fellowship grant project will last one year, starting
from November 2009.</p>
<p>Each month, FSFE will select three candidates and announce the decisions
at the beginning of the following month.</p>
<p>In December 2009, the first three grants will be given to people who
applied in November.</p>
<p>The last month in which it is possible to submit applications is October
2010.</p> | |||
<h2>Who can apply</h2>
<p>Anyone who</p> | |||
<ul> | |||
<li>Shares the Fellowship and Free Software principles</li>
<li>Is active in the diffusion, development and improvement of Free Software</li>
<li>Cannot afford the Fellowship contribution</li>
</ul> | |||
<p>is welcome to apply for the grant.</p>
<h2>How to apply for a Fellowship grant</h2>
<p>To apply for the grant is very easy:</p>
<p>Write an e-mail to <a href="mailto:fellowship@fsfeurope.org">fellowship (at) fsfeurope (dot) org</a>,
where you introduce yourself, explain the reasons why you would like to join the Fellowship, and
what you have been doing in the past to support Free Software.</p>
<h2>Who made it possible</h2>
<p>The Fellowship grant has only been possible thanks to
<a href="http://www.fsfe.org/donate/thankgnus-2009.en.html">FSFE's supporters</a>
In particular, a generous donation from tarent GmbH, finally enabled FSFE to
offer the Fellowship grant.</p>
<p>Elmar Geese, CEO at tarent GmbH says: <blockquote><p>"We grew closer to
the Fellowship of FSFE since some of our employees are already Fellows. We
know that being a Fellow is a great way to become involved with FSFE and
make a real difference for Free Software. We are glad that our contribution
will allow other enthusiastic people to become part of the
Fellowship."</p></blockquote></p>
