Free in Free Software is referring to freedom, not price. More precisely, it is about <ahref="www.fsfe.org/freesoftware/basics/4freedoms.en.html">four freedoms</a> : use, study,share, improve. Having been used
in this meaning since the 80s, the first documented complete definition
appears to be the GNU's Bulletin, vol. 1 no. 1 [<aname="ref1"
href="#1">1</a>], published February 1986.

2001 as the sister organisation of the Free Software Foundation
(FSF) in the USA to take care of all aspects of <ahref="freesoftware.html">Free Software</a> in
